World Cup in Brazil: Where to Stay and How to Get Around
The 2014 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place in Brazil from 12 June to 13 July, 2014. It will be the 20th World Cup and the second time that Brazil has hosted the competition, the previous being in 1950.

HOW CAN I FOLLOW MY NATIONAL TEAM?
With 12 host cities spread throughout Brazil, fans will have to travel long distances between cities. Brazil does not have a robust train infrastructure, so the easiest way to travel is either via bus or plane. The average distance between world cup host cities is 1036 miles, so be sure to give yourself enough time to get where you need to go.

There have been 198 new accommodations built for the World Cup. Prices are steep , but the best value is still the good old hostel.

HOW DO I GET TICKETS?
The first lottery has come and gone, but after the final draw is determined, there will be a second lottery between December 8th and Januart 30th, with the lucky winners being selected between January 31 – February 25.

WHAT ARE THE CHEAPEST TICKETS?
The cheapest prices for international fans is $90 USD. Tickets for Brazilian citizens are $30 USD and if you are a Brazilian student or senior, you can purchase tickets for $15. This is the first time in 60 years that FIFA has offered discounted student tickets for the World Cup.

Following your team will be more challenging than at previous Cups, but it is not impossible to do on a budget. Hostels offer the most bang for your lodging buck and if you book early, plane tickets are reasonably priced. The group drawings are December 6th, so pay attention to your team’s schedule and plan accordingly.
