FIFA’s Head of Women’s Football will be visiting Canada to inspect the six stadiums for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™. There will be media opportunities at each stadium with Tatjana Haenni, FIFA Deputy Director of the Competitions Division and Head of Women’s Competitions, and Peter Montopoli, National Organising Committee Chief Executive Officer.
The FIFA site visits also include a visit to The Canadian Museum of History, the site for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ Official Draw taking place on 6 December 2014.

FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™
The FIFA Women's World Cup is held every four years, with the next edition to be played in Canada in 2015. It marks the first major sporting event hosted in Canada from coast to coast, with matches to be played in: Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Montréal, Québec; and Moncton, New Brunswick. The FIFA Women's World Cup will feature the 24 best women's football teams in the world.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ will be preceded one year earlier by the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, one of two FIFA women’s youth tournaments. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup returns to Canada for the first time since 2002. The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014 will feature 16 national teams featuring players born 1994 or later.
The National Organising Committee for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015 features Victor Montagliani (chair), Steven Reed, Janine Helland, Doug Redmond, Clare Rustad, Walter Sieber and Peter Montopoli.

Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Canada 2015™
La Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA™ se déroule aux quatre ans et la prochaine édition sera disputée au Canada en 2015. Ce tournoi marque la tenue du premier événement sportif d’envergure d’un océan à l’autre au Canada, avec des matchs disputés à Vancouver en Colombie-Britannique, Edmonton en Alberta, Winnipeg au Manitoba, Ottawa en Ontario, Montréal au Québec et Moncton au Nouveau-Brunswick.
Plus de 125 pays participeront à la Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Canada 2015™ depuis le début des qualifications en avril 2013. La phase finale qui sera disputée du 6 juin au 5 juillet 2015 réunira les 24 meilleures équipes nationales féminines de football de partout dans le monde.
La Coupe du Monde Féminine de la FIFA, Canada 2015™ sera certainement une expérience unique pour ce pays avec 52 matchs au programme d’un océan à l’autre. Two more countries to qualify this weekend for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™

The world is coming to Canada. From a record-breaking field of 129 countries, the best 24 national teams from around the world will compete in next year's FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™.
Already, 13 of 24 nations have confirmed their places, including host Canada. That list will grow to 15 qualified teams with the completion of South America's Copa America which concludes on Sunday 28 September. The top-two nations from the final group of four - either Argentina, Brazil, Colombia or Ecuador - will book automatic berths for Canada 2015 while the third-place team will advance to a CONCACAF-CONMEBOL playoff in November.
One South American nation could qualify as early as Friday 26 September, otherwise both will qualify on Sunday 28 September.
Next up in October, the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ Qualifiers will conclude in Africa (via an eight-nation field in Namibia), CONCACAF (via a seven-nation field in USA), and Oceania (via a four-nation field in Papua New Guinea). The European playoffs will also get underway, with Netherlands to face Scotland and Italy to face Ukraine (with only one of the four nations to qualify in November).
All 24 finalists will be known by late November.
Tickets to the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ are now available via FIFA.com/Canada2015. In this first phase of ticket sales, fans can purchase tickets Stadium Passports or (in select cities) Stadium Half Passes.
The first phase of ticket sales for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ runs 10 September through 5 December 2014, all in advance of the Official Draw. A second phase also featuring Stadium Passports and Stadium Half Passes will commence on 6 December after the Official Draw when the schedule and venues become known for all 24 participating nations,
The third phase featuring individual tickets will launch in the first quarter of 2015 while the fourth phase featuring on-site ticketing box offices will launch in the month before the competition kicks off on 6 June 2015.

Jubilee Trophy women's championship in October

Canada's annual women's championship, the Jubilee Trophy, will take place 8-13 October in Vaughan, ON as part of the annual SportChek National Championships. This marks the 33rd year for the Canadian championship, one of the oldest national competitions in the world of women's soccer.
The eight final teams represent seven different provinces, with three former national champions included in the 2014 field: Surrey United SC, Halifax Dunbrack, and 2013 winners Edmonton Victoria. Also participating in this year's final round are Winnipeg's Action FC, Ontario's Scarborough GS United and Vaughan Azzurri, Québec's Delta Laval, and Newfoundland Labrador's Kirby United SC.
The annual SportChek National Championships take place in four cities across Canada, with this year's senior championships in Vaughan (including the men's Challenge Trophy), the U-18 Cup in Surrey, BC, the U-16 Cup in Mount Pearl, NL, and the U-14 Cup in Charlottetown, PE.

Maiden victories and painful defeats
Following a brief hiatus due to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ qualifiers, the action got underway once more in Europe’s top leagues. In England Birmingham suffered a painful defeat, while in Germany defending champions Wolfsburg continue to set the pace at the summit. On the other side of the world domestic duties were also in the spotlight, with Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers staging a goal-fest in the Australian W-League.

36 WEEKS UNTIL THE FIFA WOMEN’S WORLD CUP CANADA 2015™: Sixty-four different players have represented Canada at five editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ (from 1995 to 2011). A different player will be featured each week as we countdown the weeks to the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™.
LIZ SMITH HIEBERT:
CONCACAF champion Liz Smith Hiebert represented Canada at the FIFA Women’s World Cup USA 1999™. It was her winning goal at the 1998 CONCACAF Women’s Championship that secured Canada its first continental title, the lone goal of a 1:0 win over Mexico at Centennial Stadium in Etobicoke. Over a five-year career with the national team, Smith made 22 appearances, including 16 straight from 1996 to 1999. She was a Jubilee Trophy national winner with her hometown Edmonton Angels in 1995. She in fact celebrates her birthday today on 25 September.
