Kate Middleton returned to her public duties today, making her first post-maternity leave appearance. The Duchess of Cambridge took several months off of work following the birth of her third child Prince Louis, and while royal fans saw her a few times over the summer (Trooping the Colour, Prince Harry's wedding, Wimbledon, etc.), this is her first official engagement since late March.
For this morning's event at the Sayers Croft Trust Forest School and Wildlife Garden, an outdoor education charity, Kate looked appropriately casual, wearing an olive green jacket over a greenish-gray sweater and patterned collared shirt with brown skinny pants and her much-loved tasseled boots from Penelope Chilvers. She also appeared to be sporting a new, slightly shorter hair cut.

While Duchess Kate kept out of the public eye for much of the summer, her fall is already shaping up to be quite busy. She'll most likely be in attendance at Princess Eugenie's wedding in Windsor on October 12, and it's rumored that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will reprise their roles of page boy and flower girl for the nuptials. There's also a chance we'll see her during the Dutch royals' visit to the UK later in the month. Keep your fingers crossed for a tiara moment.
Additionally, Kate is expected to become an aunt for the first time in the coming weeks. Her younger sister Pippa is pregnant with her first child with husband James Matthews. Pippa's official due date has not been shared publicly, but the soon-to-be mama wrote about her "final weeks" of pregnancy in a recent fitness column for Waitrose magazine.
