MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Canada got two goals apiece from three different players to launch Group B play at the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship with an 8-0 victory over Guatemala on Wednesday at Catherine Hall Stadium.
It was the most goals ever scored by the Canadians in competition history, exceeding their previous mark by two.
Shortly after a Madelyn Ventura header for Guatemala was saved by goalkeeper Rylee Foster, Canada went ahead in the ninth minute. From the right side of the box, Emily Borgmann delivered a pass that Marie Mychele Metivier crashed home near the left post.
Borgmann doubled the advantage in the 26th minute. Sarah Kinzer used the outside of her right foot to slip a pass through the middle for the 15-year-old, who raced forward and found the back of the net with a shot that hit off the hands of goalkeeper Angie Hidalgo.
Five minutes before the interval, Metivier completed her brace. She gained possession near midfield and went on a long sprint from that resulted in a 3-0 lead for Canada.
While the active Canadians kept attacking in waves, Guatemala conceded a fourth in the 56th minute. Jessie Fleming rocketed an effort past Hidalgo off a feed from Marie Levasseur.
It took only two more minutes for Canada to make it 5-0. A pass from Borgmann allowed Levasseur a direct route to the Guatemalan goal and she effortlessly tallied.
As Guatemala understandably fatigued, Canada remained energetic, striking for three additional goals in the encounter’s closing moments.
With 10 minutes left in regulation, Nadya Gill ran into the right side of the box to loft the ball gently over Hidalgo and under the crossbar.
Gil struck again in the 85th, outpacing the Guatemalan defense to convert with composure and ease.
Two minutes afterwards, Levasseur punctuated the scoreline with her second goal thanks to an assist from Simmrin Dhaliwal.
For their second group games on Saturday, Canada will face Trinidad, while Guatemala will look to bounce back against the United States.

Canada W17 off to a flying start at CONCACAF Championship

    31 October 2013
Canada won it's opening match against Guatemala 8:0 at the 2013 CONCACAF Under-17 Women's Championship.
Goals, in the first-half, came courtesy of Marie Mychèle Metivier 10’, 40’and Emily Borgman 26’. And in the second by Jessie Fleming 56’, Marie Levasseur 58’, 88’ and substitute Nadya Gill 80’, 86’.
“We showed what we had to offer, said Canada’s coach Beverly Priestman following the match. “We have pace and technically proficient players that can live on the ball.”
The match was played at Catherine Hall Stadium at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, in Jamaica.
This is Canada’s 4th time at this tournament. In 2012 Canada finished runners-up to the United States, but won the tournament in 2010. At the inaugural event, in 2008, Canada placed third.
Eight teams from the CONCACAF region are competing in this year’s tournament. The top two will qualify for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2014.
Canada’s next match is on Saturday against Trinidad and Tobago at 16.30 ET. Followed by a match against the US on Monday, at 20.00 ET, in what may prove to be the deciding game in Group B.

Host Jamaica opens WU17 campaign with win

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Jamaica got its 2013 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship campaign off to an upbeat start with a 2-0 victory over El Salvador on Wednesday at Catherine Hall Stadium.
The result places the tournament host at the top of Group A with three points. Mexico and Haiti drew 1-1 earlier in the day, leaving them level in second place.
On the offensive end, Robyn-Anne Whittaker was an influential figure for the Reggae Girlz.
In the third minute of first-half stoppage time, she burst straight into the heart of the Salvadoran defense and slipped an inspired pass to Asia Lee-Fatt, who was positioned just to her right. The 16-year-old forward took a separating touch and blasted a shot into the lower-left corner to give Jamaica a 1-0 lead.
Lee-Fatt made it 2-0 eight minutes after the break, knocking in a rebound off a Khadija Shaw effort from 18-yards out that struck the right post.
The Jamaicans were knocking on the door throughout the first half, but some intelligent defending and the woodwork prevented them from inflicting additional damage.
Whittaker, however, proved to be extremely difficult to contain.
After missing from the right side of the box, she cracked another attempt off the right post in the 14th minute. Four minutes before the break, the U.S.-based forward got a foot on a loose ball in box, forcing a save from Salvadoran goalkeeper Eleonor Zelaya.
The Central Americans saw their scoring chances limited mostly to set pieces.
Team captain Sandra Cortez sent a long-distance free kick high in the 26th minute and had another share the same fate early in first-half stoppage time.
A long-distance try by active left-sided midfielder Brenda Ceren in the 80th minute was El Salvador’s only shot of the second half.
In last minute of regulation time, Lee-Fatt came close to completing a hat-trick, only to see Zelaya dive to her right for a stunning stop.
Jamaica is now unbeaten in four of its last five CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship outings and will look to improve on its form against Haiti on Friday. El Salvador will hope to bounce back against Mexico the same day.

Edmonton’s favourite heroes from 11 years ago – including Canada 2002 all-stars Erin McLeod, Carmelina Moscato and Christine Sinclair– led Canada to a 3:0 victory over Korea Republic in a Wednesday Women’s International Friendly match at Commonwealth Stadium.
The heroes were part of a Canadian XI that returned “home” for a memorable (yet cold) night of international soccer. Christine Sinclair scored the winning goal and was named Player of the Match.
The City of Edmonton is an Official Host City to both the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 as well as the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. Eleven years ago, it was a Host City to the inaugural FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (then known as the FIFA U-19 Women’s World Championship) when Canada won silver and captured the hearts of a nation.
Since 2002, Canada national “A”squad has played three times at Commonwealth Stadium, including a pair of wins in which Sinclair has scored in both wins. McLeod and Moscato were both starting for their first time in Edmonton at the “A” level, with both helping Canada post the clean sheet against Korea Republic on 30 October 2013.
Joining Sinclair, McLeod and Moscato in the Wednesday match, second-half sub Robyn Gayle is another alumni from that Canada 2002 silver-medal team. Meanwhile, both goalkeepers McLeod and Stephanie Labbé (who split the duties) call Edmonton home.

    Hot Female Athletes

    hot female athletes
    Hottest Female Athletes Facebook
In recent years, the power and image of female athletes as a whole has grown exponentially to the point where a number of female athletes are now household names. The reason for this growth has come down largely to an improvement in quality of play on the field in female sports and the ability for female athletes to connect with a largely male audience through being attractive.
The implementation of Title IX in 1972 has had a large impact on the gradual growth in the number of young girls playing sports such as soccer, volleyball or softball and the resulting improvement in quality of play.
But while this improvement in quality of play has had a large impact on women being more involved in sports than ever before, another driving factor in the growth of female sports has been the promotion of female athletes who are both attractive and successful to the sports audience that is largely compiled of men. The result of this promotion of female athletes is that many males are left with a cemented image of certain female athletes in their heads, and has had a marked influence on the growth of certain sports. For example, when one thinks of the WNBA, their impression of what the women on the television screen will look like is markedly different from the U.S. Women's Soccer team. One result of this is that television ratings have been markedly higher in recent years for the top level women's soccer games than basketball games, despite the fact that basketball is the more traditional sport in American society.
What this building of brands for attractive females has also done is led to men being infatuated with female athletes, very similar to the infatuation with actresses and musicians. The result of this infatuation is that most males have a number of female athletes that they would love to take out and be seen out in public with.
With this infatuation of female athletes in mind, we have decided to compile a list of the 15 hot female athletes that any male would like to get caught in the back of a dark movie theatre with.
    Enjoy!

ROB FORD CRACK COCAINE VIDEO SCANDAL UPDATE: Crazy stuff from the Rob Ford/Sandro Lisi court documents

Everything you wanted to know about what the mayor gets up to

Earlier today, we published the massive documents that comprised the Information to Obtain a warrant (ITO) for the arrest of Ford's alleged drug dealer buddy Sandro Lisi.
Ford figures very prominently in the volumes, which detail a months-long police investigation to get to the bottom of the you-know-what video scandal. Now that we've had a day to plough through it all, we present to you a curated selection of some of the more curious tidbits contained therein.
(Just remember: although these things have been sworn before a judge by a police officer, they have not been proven in court.)

About Lisi and the efforts to surveil him
    • From a cop interview with David Price: Lisi is related to someone who went to high school with Doug Ford.
    • Countersurveillance Lisi was conducting from his residence meant cops couldn't get close enough to him without blowing their cover. Enter plane.
    • Court documents say Lisi is under a firearms prohibition for life after 2003 convictions for threatening death, assault and criminal harassment.
    • Fellow to whom Lisi's Range Rover is registered survived a knife attack, involving several stabs in the back, in 2001. Referred to as a "cocaine user."
    • Lisi's "counter surveillance manoeuvres" to shake cops on his tail included turning 10-minute car trips into 45-minute goose chases.
    • Lisi was followed by cops to an address on Lamella Road that had been the target of a 2010 drug squad bust of pot, meth and ecstasy. Police scanned it from the air but saw "no abnormal heat signatures."
    • On July 18, cops installed a remote-controlled "pole camera" outside Lisi's residence.
    • Lisi made a stop at Doug Holyday's campaign office "for a few moments" while under police surveillance.
    • On August 8, police installed a tracking device on Lisi's Range Rover.

    • Lisi called the cops on August 13 at 2:29 am to report a white minivan circling in the vicinity of the mayor's place. He refused to give his name. Police speculate that the van was the CBC's, which had photographed the mayor at the Esso station down the street from his house. It was night the mayor showed up to the Taste of the Danforth.

    About Ford's meetings with Lisi
    • Lisi and Ford seem to have known cops were surveilling them, according to observations recorded by cops outside Lisi's house on Sunday, June 16.

    • July 11: Lisi meets Ford at the gas station at the corner of the mayor's street and drops a manila envelope into the mayor's SUV while the mayor is inside the shop.

    • Police retrieved a bag tossed by the mayor into the garbage after surveillance on July 28 and discovered two empty bottles of vodka.
    • The school parking lot where Ford met with Lisi is on Trehorne, across the street from the mayor's sister's place.
    • The mayor knew he was being watched by the cops, which may explain why there're no direct exchanges but rather Lisi dropping envelopes in Ford's car.
    • There was a "dramatic change" in Lisi's calls to the mayor in June–July. Lisi is no longer calling the mayor's cell but rather the OnStar in his SUV.

    • On August 13, cops follow the mayor and Lisi to Weston Wood Park, where they stayed for approximately an hour. A vodka and juice bottle were later seized.

    About Ford's staff
    • David Price, Ford's head of logistics (aka bodyguard), was interviewed by cops at police headquarters on June 19, where he identified Lisi from a photo.
    • The mayor's former chief of staff, Mark Towhey, had "concerns" about Lisi and dispatched David Price to find out more about him.

    • A weird thing about the Lisi documents: how often the mayor's likable special assistant / receptionist Tom Beyer turns up as a seeming go-between.
    • From cop interview with ex-Ford staffer Chris Fickle: "Lisi may be the person who provides the Mayor with marihuana [sic] and possibly cocaine."

    About alleged gang involvement
    • Dixon City Bloods gang members hung out at 15 Windsor, home of Ford's high school friend Fabio Basso — "often to 'chop' crack."
    • On the day Anthony Smith was killed, the mayor and Lisi spoke seven times on the phone. The mayor made five of those calls.

About the apparent search for the video
    • The mayor and Lisi spoke 11 times on May 22, the day after cops say a home invasion took place at Fabio Basso's home on Windsor.
    • Courts documents show Lisi had phone communication with Mohamed Siad, the man allegedly in possession of the Ford crack video.
