A big week for Canada 2015 Women's World Cup Qualifiers concludes

Seven countries remain perfect in FIFA Women's World Cup Qualifiers, while several others are a step closer to booking a Canada 2015 ticket through the year-long European qualifications. From the past week, 38 nations participated in 30 matches as the group phase passed the half-way mark.
This month, 15 matches were played 4-5 April and another 15 matches were played 9-10 April. The next round of matches are 26 April and then 7-8 May.
Group leaders include perfect nations Germany (Group 1) and England (Group 6) as well as unbeaten nations Spain (Group 2) and Switzerland (Group 3). Perfect nations Scotland and Sweden are one-two in Group 4 while also-perfect France and Finland are one-two in Group 7. Netherlands, Norway (perfect) and Belgium, meanwhile, are in a tight race in Group 5.
From September 2013 to September 2014, there are 42 nations competing in the European group phase, with 10 matches to be played by each nation. While each group winner will automatically qualify for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015, four of the seven second-place finishers will advance to the decisive European playoff for an eighth and final ticket to Canada 2015.

National Organising Committee Planning Sessions in Ottawa

The National Organising Committee staff for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 held National Planning Sessions in Ottawa this week from 7-10 April. The four days of meetings brought together National Organising Committee staff and Venue General Managers from the Official Host Cities.

This series of meetings discussed the transition to venue operations as the National Organising Committee continues to build momentum towards the two competitions, starting with the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 which will run later this year from 5-25 August.

The next milestone for the competition will be the 100-day countdown, which is Sunday 27 April 2014.

A victory for women's football

Japan took the honours at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2014, a 21-day competition that proved to be one big party for the host nation. The Little Nadeshiko saw off Spain in a superb final that set the seal on a memorable tournament.
The two sides were fitting finalists, having played the most skilful and entertaining football of the 16 participating nations, providing proof of just how rewarding long-term projects founded on solid, targeted development programmes can be.

The unstoppable Japanese combined technical brilliance with tactical discipline, attracting admiration for their attacking power, defensive solidity and the speed of their play. Not only were they the competition’s highest scorers, they also conceded fewer goals than anyone.

2014 NWSL season kicks off this weekend

Fans in Canada will be able to keep tabs on the second National Women's Soccer League season with all matches streamed live on YouTube. The 2014 season will feature improved streaming production, with all games broadcast in HD with a minimum of three cameras with experienced operators.

All games will be available for free, so fans are encouraged to subscribe to the league and team-specific channels for which links are available on the official NWSL website.
The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a nine-team Division-I women's professional soccer league featuring the support of the Canadian Soccer Association, Federation of Mexican Football and the United States Soccer Federation.

The FIFA Women's World Cup is held every four years, with the next edition to be played in Canada in 2015.
