Adriana Lima and her former NBA baller hubby Marko Jaric announced their separation today, saying, "After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage."

The couple added, "We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family."

Lima and Jaric have two small children, so when you fantasize about the day you sweep Lima off her feet ... factor that in.
