Police reported six females missing in just over 24 hours from Monday to Tuesday. While it sparked fear and outrage, police said it's not an unusually high number.

Police reported four women and two teenaged girls missing in Toronto in just over 24 hours from Monday through Tuesday afternoon.
While the reports sparked fears across the city, with a Twitter hashtag, #torontowomen, springing up devoted to the missing females, Toronto police said it isn’t unusual to have that number of people unaccounted for in the city at any given time.
“As we stand at this point, there’s nothing nefarious, there’s no foul play detected in any of these instances,” said Const. Victor Kwong.
Police issued a news release on Monday afternoon reporting 55-year-old Gemima Oldford missing since Saturday. She was last seen around 9 p.m. near Yonge St. and Dundas St. W.
Then, on Tuesday morning, four more news releases were published within 90 minutes, reporting two women and two teenaged girls missing.
Police believe Emily Clancey, 17, and Marina Doulis, 15, were together when they were last seen on Monday near Queen St. W. and Ossington Ave.
Natasha McGregor, 38, was last seen on Monday as well, near Pembroke St. and Dundas St. E.
Carolyn Earp, 28, went missing Monday evening from the Queen St. E. and Bond St. area.
“This is a very common thing. It just so happened that we put out the four (releases) and they were all female
. That’s what caught everyone’s attention,” said Kwong.

“We have since been getting a lot of calls about whether there’s some mass abduction or something like that. The answer is no.”
Another news release published Tuesday afternoon reported Zhou Luo, 40, missing from the Queen St. W. and Ossington Ave. area.
Aside from Clancey and Doulis, there are no links between other cases as far as police know, said Kwong.
A quick scroll through Toronto police news releases shows there are frequently several reports of missing people in the same day; many are located shortly after their names and photos are published.
Oldford is white, 5’6” tall, with a heavy build. She was wearing pants and strappy white sandals with silver sequins.
Clancey is described as white, 5’8” and 160 pounds with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue jean jacket, a black tank top and black leggings.
Doulis is white, 5’5” tall and 120 pounds with long blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue jean jacket over a green dress with black leggings.
McGregor is white, 5’5” tall and 150 pounds, with blue eyes and brownish-blonde hair.
Earp is white, 5’2” and 120 pounds, with brown eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. She was wearing a grey sweater with an animal print on the hood and black pants.

Luo is Asian, 5’ and thin, with brown eyes and black hair that was tied up in a bun. She was wearing white running shoes, a grey shirt and dark pants.
Toronto police are asking anyone with information on the missing females to contact police at 416-808-1400.
