More than 125 nations will participate in the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ competition, with qualification matches to produce a record 24 nations for next year's finals from 6 June to 5 July 2015.
In all, more than 350 qualification matches will be played from 4 April 2013 to 27 November 2014. Six nations have already qualified - five from Asia and one from Europe - with 17 more to qualify in the four months from August to November. The Official Draw for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ will take place on 6 December 2014.
Already, 110 nations have participated in FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ Qualifiers, with as many as 18 more to join the competition in the coming months. From those 110 nations, 67 have been eliminated through recent matches played in June.
Joining host Canada, Asian nations Australia, China PR, Japan, Korea Republic and Thailand all qualified in May. From Europe, Switzerland qualified in June.
Next year, the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ will be played in six host cities: Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Montréal, Québec; and Moncton, New Brunswick.
As for fans looking to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from coast to coast across the nation, tickets will go on sale via Stadium Passports on 10 September 2014. The initial phase will feature tickets for every match at a particular Official Host City.

Canada 2015 to offer Stadium Passports for all venues
Tickets to the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ will go on sale this 10 September 2014, with the initial phase to offer Stadium Passports that feature tickets for every match at a particular Official Host City.
Each Stadium Passport applies only to the Official Host City and stadium selected. For fans who want the Stadium Passport experience, but can’t attend all the matches, a Stadium Half Pass will be available for Vancouver, Edmonton and Montréal.
Stadium Passport or Stadium Half Pass purchasers will also have the first opportunity to purchase tickets for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 championship final at BC Place on 5 July 2015, subject to availability with no discounts.

Final Draw to take place on 6 December
The Official Draw for the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ will be hosted in the nation's capital region on Saturday 6 December 2014. Activities will take place in Ottawa, ON and Gatineau, QC, with the Official Draw itself to take place at the beautiful Canadian Museum of History.
"We are pleased to announce that the FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ Official Draw will be held on Saturday 6 December at the Canadian Museum of History in the National Capital Region of Ottawa-Gatineau," said Victor Montagliani, President for the Canadian Soccer Association and Chairman for the National Organising Committee.
"It will be an honour to welcome the world to the nation's capital to determine where the 24 participating nations will play their matches in the six official host cities."
The Official Draw will welcome 24 finalists including hosts Canada, with nations to be drawn into six groups. So far, only seven of 24 spots have been confirmed, with FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™ Qualifiers to continue through to 27 November - one week before the Official Draw.

FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015™
The FIFA Women's World Cup is held every four years, with the next edition to be played in Canada in 2015. It marks the first major sporting event hosted in Canada from coast to coast, with matches to be played in: Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Ottawa, Ontario; Montréal, Québec; and Moncton, New Brunswick. The FIFA Women's World Cup will feature the 24 best women's football teams in the world.
The FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ will be preceded one year earlier by the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, one of two FIFA women’s youth tournaments. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup returns to Canada for the first time since 2002. The FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Canada 2014 will feature 16 national teams featuring players born 1994 or later.

SOPHIE SCHMIDT:
CONCACAF champion Sophie Schmidt has represented Canada at the last two editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup™, with appearances both at China PR 2007 (as a teenager) and Germany 2011. The Canada Soccer U-20 Player of the Year in 2007, she scored one goal at the China PR 2007 competition in a 4:0 win over Ghana. Still only 25 years old (until her birthday on 28 June), Schmidt has already made more than 100 appearances at the international “A” level, even setting the all-time Canadian record for consecutive matches. She has also participated at two Women’s Olympic Football Tournaments, winning a bronze medal at London 2012. She now plays for Sky Blue FC in the National Women’s Soccer League.
