VAUGHAN, October 10, 2013 – The champions from three of Ontario’s top leagues and the Quebec Provincial League take the pitch this weekend to battle for the 2013 Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup.
The top teams from the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL), the Ontario Soccer League (OSL), and the Ontario Women's Soccer League (OWSL) take part in the 2-game series with their counterparts from the Quebec Provincial League for the Cup. If the league champions are representing their province in the National Club Championships, the second place team will represent the province at the Quebec-Ontario Cup.
The Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup is an inter-provincial competition, developed in 2008 by both The Ontario Soccer Association and la Federation de Soccer du Quebec. The provinces alternate hosting duties each year.
The following divisions will be competing this weekend:
- Under 14
- Under 15
- Under 16
- Joint Under 17/18
*Due to player availability for the Women’s teams from both Quebec and Ontario, the Women’s division has been cancelled for 2013.
The competition schedule for both Saturday and Sunday are listed below:
Men/Boys Women/GirlsThe 2012 Coupe Quebec-Ontario Cup was evenly matched, as the competition ended in a draw. The Ontario Men/Boys were victorious, winning four of five divisions. The Ontario Women/Girls fought hard, but came up short losing three of five divisions. Ontario will look to win the contest outright this year by winning both the male and female sides of the competition.
