IRBID, October 8, 2016 - Do-or-die. This is the environment around the match between Brazil and England, on Saturday in Irbid. Only one of them will be in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. For Brazil a draw is enough to go through, while the English girls need to win no matter what. The game promises not to be an easy one, and for keeping the dream of an unexpected title alive, the Brazilian team is betting on the creativity of their number 10, Micaelly.
“She is really our main weapon to beat the English girls,” Brazilian coach Luizão told AIPS. “She is showing her abilities to both Brazil and the entire world, and I am sure she is going to be a great player.”
“Obviously, a team is never made up of just one player, and to overcome the Young Lionesses the group has to be united and play the same symphony,” the coach continued.
“We’ve been working very hard, and I am sure that Brazil are going to play a great game. Every single part of our team is prepared for this match,” Luizão said.
The Canarinha's girls have watched videos of England’s previous matches and have singled out the team’s strong points in attack.
"They are very strong in the air and our job will be to make things difficult for them", Brazil’s No4 defender Thais Regina toold AIPS.
The team put extra focus on its psychological preparation ahead of the game, in order to manage the pressure and responsibility on the team ahead of the deciding group clash.
"We are confident we are going to beat the English team. We will be the ones going through", Regina assured us, and all of Brazil’s fans.
