An official with the prosecutor’s office says Alejandro Jimenez Gonzalez was arrested Monday on a cruise ship in the Pacific port of Bahia Solano. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.
He said that police identified Jimenez after his identification drew suspicion.
The 74-year-old Cabral was gunned down in Guatemala last July in an attack that authorities believe was aimed at the Nicaraguan businessman who was driving the singer to the airport. That man was wounded.
Jimenez is Costa Rican. That country’s authorities say he is accused of leading an criminal group involved in money laundering.
