VAUGHAN, August 21, 2013 – The Ontario Cup is set to kick off a very busy Semi-Final Round this weekend, August 24-25. From Under 13 Boys and Girls, to Men and Women, teams in 15 divisions will compete at five of Ontario's premier soccer facilities in hopes of landing a spot in the Ontario Cup Finals.
Among the teams gearing up for this weekend is the highly anticipated Men's division. Only two of the seven Ontario Soccer League provincial level teams registered in the 2013 Ontario Cup. PCC Mississauga and Caledon FC are all that is left from Ontario's top amateur Men's league, and will square off this weekend in a bid for the Finals. On the other side, London Marconi takes on Gloucester Celtic. Both squads fought through a tough draw in the earlier rounds, and now have a shot at playing for a provincial title.
The Women’s Division is also set up for a very competitive Semi-Final Round. Three of the four Ontario Women’s Soccer League provincial level teams are still in the mix: Scarborough G.S. United, Vaughan Azzurri, and Richmond Hill Raiders. In the first Semi-Final, Scarborough G.S. United and rival Vaughan Azzurri will clash. In the second Semi-Final, the Richmond Hill Raiders will take on a hot Erin Mills Eagles squad which is coming off two impressive wins.
