December 2015 in Coaching
Canada Soccer's A Licence coaching course has wrapped up in Montréal, QC, with 24 coaches completing the 11-day Part 1 phase from 7-17 December 2015. The course ensures coaches can learn and improve the environment for players in clubs across the country, with a focus on football at the international and professional levels.
"It was a pleasure to work with the coaches in the course as they have been great," said Ray Clark, Canada Soccer's Director of Coaching. "The experience and ability they brought to the course has been both invigorating and encouraging. With coaches working in our national program, Major League Soccer, professional academies, and high-performance leagues, this has been an opportunity for us to work with some of Canada's best coaches."
The courses help coaches devise, organise, conduct, and evaluate coaching sessions in advanced skills, tactics, strategies, and systems of play. Coaches will also better understand and employ the complimentary managerial and coach-related aspects appropriate to the role of the coach at the elite levels of soccer.
"We are grateful to the Impact organisation for reaching out and hosting this year's event, from the use of their facilities to the involvement of their academy players in our caching sessions and practical exams," said Clark. "They have been thoroughly professional throughout the course. Their coaching staff have been first class and we look forward to returning here next year to complete the program."
This year's Canada Soccer A Licence coaching course looks at the development in the tactical and technical areas of soccer, notably those highlighted at the recent FIFA World Cup in Brazil and FIFA Women's World Cup Canada 2015. The second part of the course will run next year in December 2016.
