HOUSTON – Trinidad & Tobago scored twice in the second half to rally for a 2-1 win over Guatemala in the 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship opener for each on Thursday at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The result, which was the same as when the sides met in the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, gave the Caribbean power an early advantage in Group B.  Canada and Guyana will complete the doubleheader later in the evening.

T&T came out in inspired fashion with a flurry of chances early on, but Guatemala goalkeeper Yoselin Franco made a pair of excellent quick-fire stops, while forward Kennya Cordner headed over the crossbar.
The Guatemalans took the lead in the 17th minute, when Ana Lucia Martinez converted a penalty kick for her second career CWOQ goal.
Trinidad was rewarded for its persistence as Cordner finally leveled in the 74th minute. A long diagonal pass from the right was sent deep into the Guatemala box. Cordner jumped to make a connection, but missed. Franco got a hand to the ball, which looped back towards the goal, where the hustling Cordner headed home off the bounce on the line.
St. Louis then won the game five minutes later with a lovely individual goal, cutting inside and then out onto her right foot, before unleashing a powerful shot that beat Franco from 17-yards out.
Next up for Trinidad is a Sunday meeting with Canada, while Guatemala will look to get on track against Guyana.
