Rogers Radio stakes its claim in digital dominance, ranking #1 with the most visited radio websites in Canada for this year-to-date. According to the most recent data by comScore, Rogers Radio’s 55 station websites attracted the most unique visitors and daily visitors in the first and second quarters of 2012. In addition, Rogers-owned 680News.com (Toronto) and News1130.com (Vancouver) rank #1 and #4, respectively, amongst all Canadian radio websites in unique visitors for the month of June.
“Radio reaches its listeners wherever they are, and our audiences are increasingly using our online and mobile platforms to stay engaged,” said Paul Ski, CEO, Radio, Rogers Media.
“From on-air to online, we are constantly using new technologies to connect with our audiences,” said Andrea Gagliardi, Senior Director and General Manager, Broadcasting, Rogers Digital Media. “Whether it’s sending in news tips to share stories or engaging with our hosts, who are also very active in the digital space, we continue these conversations through our dominance in the online space.”
Among the comScore findings:
· Rogers Radio’s 55 stations across Canada attracted a monthly average of 1.3 million unique visitors to its websites in Q1 (January through March) and 1.2 million unique visitors in Q2 (April through June) despite having fewer radio stations than the next closest competitor (see chart below)
· Rogers Radio stations rank first in total visits in both Q1 and Q2 2012, almost doubling the next closest competitor
· 680News.com – the website for Toronto’s only 24-hour live radio station – had the most unique visitors of any individual radio station website in Canada for June 2012 with Vancouver’s all-news website News1130.com ranking #4 among all radio websites in Canada
· Rogers Radio station websites experienced a 26 per cent growth year-over-year from June 2011 to June 2012
Rogers Radio continues to be a leader in digital and mobile innovation with continued multiplatform development. Currently available on-air, online and through the 680News iPhone and BlackBerry apps, Rogers Radio recently announced the addition of a 680News Android Smartphone app, sponsored by launch partner Samsung, further expanding its multiplatform reach. The Android Smartphone app is available for download at the Google Play Store, giving audiences even more opportunities to access round-the-clock news, weather and traffic.
