Rapinoe was just booked for accidentally hitting Corredera in the face. Rapinoe went over after and gave her a high-five and apologized. Obviously, it was not intentional at all.
The best news for Spain from the first half:
- 1. Lucia Garcia and Hermoso combined very well and Lucia is giving the USA defenders a hard time.
- 2. Spain's main problem from their previous matches was the lack of accuracy in front of goal: against China they created 24 chances and couldn't score. Today they had two and scored one of them.
- 3. Despite the USA players being physically stronger and faster, Spain are competing with them and seem to be finding the right balance in attack and defence.

This is a much more physical match than what the USA has been used to, but when they have been able to settle down and play their game, that is when the chances have come. The use of the wide players is where they are the most dangerous with Tobin Heath, Kelley O’Hara, Megan Rapinoe and Crystal Dunn working to combine with the central midfielders. The defence have held their own against a quick frontline for Spain, however they did concede their first goal of the tournament due to some miscommunication. In the second half they will need to come out with confidence.

After a crazy start that included a penalty converted by USA, Spain did the most difficult thing and got the equaliser in their second attempt of the match. Hermoso's goal is the first one the USA have conceded in this Women's World Cup. From that point on, Spain have competed very well. They struggled on the flanks, but when the pace of the game relaxed a bit, they were more incisive and aggressive. Losada's eye injury forced Jorge Vilda to make an early substitution. And he decided to replace the midfielder with forward Nahikari Garcia. Will Spain keep up this physical rhythm of play? Let’s see what the second half brings!

That's bad luck for Vicky Losada. She was hit in the eye during a 50-50 challenge near the beginning of the match, and due to the swelling, she can't see and had to be replaced. But head coach Jorge Vilda did not choose a midfielder as a replacement, but instead a forward in Nahikari Garcia. It looks like he wants to have more speed up front.

After a first 25 minutes of high intensity, it seems like the pace of the game has relaxed a bit, and that allows Spain to keep the ball a little more often.

USA have now had a number of attacking chances in the last five minutes of the match, with the players in wide areas being a huge part of the build up. Crystal Dunn and Kelley O'Hara are getting in to combine with the forwards to create chances.

As expected, USA are creating lots of chances from the flanks. Both Leila Ouahabi on the left and Marta Corredera on the right are struggling to deal with Heath and Rapinoe, respectively. The help of players like Lucia Garcia or Alexia Putellas will be crucial to stop them.

Now Spain need to stay focused and concentrated. Losing possession in midfiled can be very dangerous. Rapinoe just received a brilliant through pass by Rose Lavelle, but Panos made a great save at her near post.

Spain have found the equaliser! After a misunderstanding between keeper Alyssa Naeher and defender Becky Sauerbrunn, Lucia Garcia stole the ball from Sauerbrunn and assisted Hermoso, who scored! That's her third goal of this World Cup.

As Elisa predicted earlier, this is a physical match. There have been a number of players down from both teams just in the first ten minutes. We've had a back-and-forth start with USA scoring early but then going on to concede their first goal of the tournament.

Jennifer HERMOSO (Spain) scores!!
Spain's striker finds the equaliser! Hermoso took advantage of some sloppy passing in the back from the USA and picks out the far post and curls in a goal for Spain.
