The truth is out there: Dana Scully can really wear a dress.A decade after turning in her badge as TV's most famous paranormal FBI agent on "The X-Files," Gillian Anderson appeared on the red carpet for the British Academy of Film and TV Arts Awards on Sunday night, and the actress made jaws drop in a gorgeous vintage gown.
The 43-year-old Anderson replaced her famous dark-blue power suit with a floor-length 1956 haute couture Sybil Connolly dress in peaches and cream, and accessorized with Adler's cognac diamonds (a cuff and chunky earrings). Anderson also replaced her trademark red hair with lightly streaked sandy waves brushed off her face.
Anderson presented the Animated Film award to producer Graham King for "Rango" before heading to the Weinstein Company's post-BAFTApParty at Le Baron, where she brushed shoulders with Meryl Streep, Dame Judi Dench, and Hayley Atwell.
Since the "X-Files" series ended in 2002 after nine seasons, Anderson has been living in England (where she grew up) and making her name in local series such as "Great Expectations" and "Any Human Heart."
"By moving to London, I removed myself from the madness of the entertainment industry," the mother of three told the Sun in 2008. "I love the city, the culture, and the opportunity to bring my children up in a more sane environment."
But it looks like Anderson can still bring some old Hollywood glamour to the red carpet across the pond.
