Alex Morgan reacts
Celebrating her 30th birthday today, goalscorer Alex Morgan spoke with FOX after the final whistle."Alyssa Naeher, she should be the player of the match today. She saved our butts today. We needed to stick to our defence at the end and we did it quite well. I'm so proud of every player who stepped up tonight. Our bench is so deep, and we showed that tonight. How can you beat this?"

More from Neville
“I didn’t want to see tears. I thought the way we lost was exactly the way we wanted to play. The courage they had to play football and keep going, to battle; they left everything out there. No regrets. We gave it our absolute all. We’ve had the best four to six days of our lives, so we didn’t want it to end. It’s not over because we have Saturday’s match. I don’t wallow and I won’t feel sorry for myself. The aim is for us to become the best, like America. We’ve still got a bit to go, but I won’t stop until we get there.”
17:56 02/07
"Most enthralling 90 minutes in my management career"
“It’s about winning. I can’t say to my players, ‘unlucky’. That’s white noise to them, because they wanted to win. That tells me that we’re closer than we’ve ever been. We came here to win and we didn’t do that. Good luck to the USA. They showed they know what it takes to win football matches. Their game management was spectacular. It was the most enthralling 90 minutes I’ve been involved in as a manager. We're knocking on the door now.”
17:51 02/07
Phil Neville, England head coach
“We’ll have to allow 24 to 48 hours for this to sink in and for them to get over this disappointment. Nothing I can say will make them feel better. Elite sport and being on top of the world means that on Saturday in Nice we have to produce a performance. It will tell me a lot about my players. I’ve moved on from this already and now I’m looking forward to Saturday’s game. I’ll see the attitude, commitment of my players. They won’t let me down, because they never have.”

Rapinoe speaks
Megan Rapinoe spoke with Karina LeBlanc with FOX on her injury status:
"My hamstring is day to day, but I feel like I'll be ready for the final. When you're on the bench you need to be hyped for the team and give them energy and get those vibes out there. We dug deep again. This was the moment we displayed our depth. We had injuries, people were tired, and had little rest, and that's where the depth comes from. Everyone stepped up and they were ready for their moment."
17:20 02/07
"I channeled my inner Carli Lloyd"
Goalscorer Christen Press spoke with FOX after the match and gave insight into her headed goal:
"It's crazy. It's so, so emotional. What a team effort. For us to stay strong and composed and execute, and make it to the finals is incredible. I have been honestly watching Carli Lloyd on headers, so I channeled my inner Carli Lloyd."
17:17 02/07
Milestone reached
USA are the first nation to reach three consecutive Women's World Cup finals.

Alex Morgan reacts
Celebrating her 30th birthday today, goalscorer Alex Morgan spoke with FOX after the final whistle.
"Alyssa Naeher, she should be the player of the match today. She saved our butts today. We needed to stick to our defence at the end and we did it quite well. I'm so proud of every player who stepped up tonight. Our bench is so deep, and we showed that tonight. How can you beat this?"
17:09 02/07
Naeher's shining moment
Did you know? Alyssa Naeher is the first USA goalkeeper to save a penalty at the Women's World Cup.
17:05 02/07
Jill Ellis reacts
Speaking in an interview with FOX, USA head coach Jill Ellis gave her immediate post-match thoughts:
"I can't even express how proud I am (of the group). It was such a great effort from everybody. Everyone stepped up, and that's what this team's about. That was her (Alyssa Naeher) shining moment. We have one more game. I couldn't be prouder of this group. We have four days this time in between, so that will help. I told them (in the huddle), 'Stay humble. We've got one more.'"

It could have been the unprecedented change in system, a weary defence, sacrificing possession cheaply or failing to rise to the occasion. Despite a superb performance by Rachel Daly and an impressive energy rate going forward, England slipped tonight and the loss will have devastated Phil Neville's side, who throughout this tournament, have looked confident, ruthless and virtually unflappable. England showed a new aggression, yet it was not always well-channelled, and it compromised their previously-excellent disciplinary record - markedly when Mille Bright was shown a second yellow.

Similar to the match against France, the US hold on to the 2-1 lead, even with a fair amount of added time due to the number of fouls that took place in the second half. But they did it, and then they have their goalkeeper to thank for the save she made on the penalty that could have very well been the equalizer.

The US have reverted to five in the back just like they did against France in the quarter-final. Jill Ellis has always believed in her attacking tactics and playing in their style of play, but the last two matches she has done whatever she has had to do to beat these teams. England have brilliant forwards that are causing trouble for USA's defence, so Ellis is adjusting things tactically to try and deal with them.
